Heavy Flintlock Rifle, Eichstett 1740

Heavy, curved octagonal barrel signed Joseph Gabriel Hassl Eichstett, seven deep grooves. Decorated, sliding rear sight, dovetail front sight. Arched lock with rainproof pan and iron-cut roccali, gilded base, finely adjustable trigger. Openwork, engraved brass lock plate with key screws. Raised cut, pierced brass fittings. Walnut stock with floral carvings, horn end and flat surface for the stand, plaster box slipcase with embedded, engraved brass plaque. Barrel retaining pins guided in horn. Field measure 16 mm, draw measure 17.4 mm. Length 128cm. Muzzle with a small, cleaned spot of rust, old repair on the right side of the fore-end, ramrod replaced. Gilding partially restored on the lock. Otherwise very good condition and function. The original purchase price was significantly higher.
