Big Hunting Pitcher, Orivit about 1910

Silver-plated pitcher with delicate Art Nouveau decoration, flattened on the sides and adorned with a medallion on each side, one with a hunting dog, the other with a deer. Engraved around the base: “Dedicated in friendship to the 25th anniversary of our travels by the H. Herbrig family, Bautzen, July 20, 1918.” Hinged lid with owner’s initials PS. The base bears the brand name “Orivit” and model number 2425. Height 32 cm. The silver plating shows minimal spotting; otherwise, it is in very good condition. Orivit was a prominent company, founded in 1895 in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, producing high-quality luxury goods in the Art Nouveau style. It achieved great success at the World’s Fair in the USA. It was acquired by WMF in 1905, but the name was retained. A beautiful piece for a hunting lodge.
