Single-edged saber blade with a wide fluting, a second, narrow fluting in the center, signed “Springfield Armory Springfield Mass. USA”. Fine blade etching signed “U.S.”, reverse with US eagle and motto between fine trophy etchings. Brass hilt with two bands, outer side with a radiant halo, inner side with eagle and stars. The pommel with foliage and US coat of arms. Hilt fire-gilded. Wooden grip covered with ray skin and brass wire wrapping. Steel scabbard with brass mouth and two movable carrying rings, drag with radiant decoration, all fire-gilded. Length 100 cm, blade length 86.6 cm. Based on the blade etching and the signature, the piece can be dated between 1900 and 1902; approximately 300 were produced per year.
