Italian flintlock pistol, Zanotti 1975
A rounded, cannon-shaped barrel rises above a floral baluster, richly decorated, the rear half adorned with scale ornamentation. Owner’s initials RB. Beneath the barrel is the Neptune trademark with the maker’s signature F (Fabio) Zanotti, valid Italian proof marks. Richly decorated brass fittings in the Brescian style, circa 1650. Walnut stock with rich floral decoration and winged dogs. Length 40 cm, barrel length 25 cm. Bore bright, lock produces good sparks. In its original, solid walnut case lined with blue cloth, matching .50 caliber bullet pliers, and richly decorated powder flask. This pistol was distributed by Frankonia and Wischo in the early 1970s; the cased version is rare.
