Single-edged blade, spine widening towards the point; stamped with a “B” under a crown; ricasso stamped “J. H. Becker Solingen,” reverse side stamped “L. O. Dietrich Altenburg” (Leopold Oscar Dietrich, a former sewing machine manufacturer). The blade originally featured a saw-back, which was officially ground off in 1918 by order of the Army High Command. Features a flash guard, pommel with spring-loaded catch, and screw-fastened, grooved walnut grip scales. Steel scabbard with carrying hook; Prussian acceptance mark on the throat piece. Leather frog with an oval maker’s mark on the back. Total length 49.4 cm, blade length 36 cm. Blade shows cleaned pitting and grinding marks in the cutting area. Flash guard has a small dent;
